Trying to find a new goalkeeper during the away game against FC Cologne
Paderborn currently at the bottom of the table
Paderborn must do without its regular goalkeeper Jannik Huth in the away game at 1. FC Köln on Friday (8:30 p.m.). As the second division soccer club announced on Wednesday, the 29-year-old will be out for several weeks with a muscle injury in his thigh. Leopold Zingerle from Austria is to take his place in Cologne's goal. The 22-year-old was signed in mid-January as a new number two behind Huth, but has not yet played a competitive game for Paderborn.
Huth has been Paderborn's number one for years.
Huth has been Paderborn's number one for years and has made 20 appearances in the current season. In the 0:4 defeat against Holstein Kiel last Saturday, however, he had to be substituted early on because of the injury. Paderborn slipped to last place in the table after the defeat and is now four points behind the relegation place. The East Westphalians will have to improve significantly at Cologne if they want to avoid relegation. The Rhinelanders are currently in seventh place and have been in good form recently.
In addition to Huth, Paderborn will also be without defender Jasper van der Werff (torn muscle fiber) and midfielder Robert Leipertz (knee problems) in Cologne. The use of attacker Sirlord Conteh (muscular problems) is still questionable.
