Lakers Injury Update: Anthony Davis Expected to Miss Several Weeks
Injury Update
Los Angeles Lakers fans were dealt a major blow on Tuesday when the team announced that star forward Anthony Davis will miss several weeks with a right foot injury. Davis suffered the injury in the Lakers' 123-118 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
An MRI on Tuesday revealed a sprained MCL in Davis's right foot. The Lakers said in a statement that Davis is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Davis's Impact on the Lakers
Davis's injury is a major setback for the Lakers, who are already dealing with injuries to LeBron James and Lonzo Ball. Davis is one of the best players in the NBA and his absence will be a significant loss for the Lakers.
Davis is averaging 28.5 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game this season. He is also one of the best defenders in the league, averaging 2.1 blocks per game.
Lakers' Outlook
The Lakers are now 22-25 this season and are in seventh place in the Western Conference. They are 3.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the eighth and final playoff spot.
The Lakers will have to find a way to replace Davis's production while he is out. Kyle Kuzma and JaVale McGee are expected to see their roles increase, and the Lakers may also consider signing a free agent.
