3:0 against France: DFB's new U23 women start with a win
Successful debut for the DFB U23 women
The new DFB U23 women's team celebrated a successful debut at the French Football Federation (FFF) Tournament in Clairefontaine, France. In their first game, coach Kathrin Peter's team defeated the hosts 3-0 (1-0) on Thursday.
Goals from Anyomi, Weidauer and Bühl
Before 250 spectators at the National Football Center in Clairefontaine, captain Lena Oberdorf (VfL Wolfsburg) put the DFB eleven in the lead in the 25th minute with a header. After the break, Nicole Anyomi (Eintracht Frankfurt/50th) and Sydney Lohmann (FC Bayern Munich/85th) sealed the deserved victory.
Test against England on Saturday
The DFB selection will now face England in their second match at the tournament on Saturday (2 p.m.). The English team defeated the Netherlands 3-1 (1-0) in their first game. The tournament in France serves as preparation for the U23 European Championship, which will take place from June 28 to July 6, 2024 in Romania. Nine teams will qualify for the final round alongside hosts Romania.
