2. Bundesliga: Review of the weekend: KSC still the only team without a defeat in the lower house
Four wins, four draws and two defeats: The 2nd Bundesliga made for a mixed weekend
While the leaders Darmstadt and Hamburg drew their games on Friday and Saturday respectively, pursuers Heidenheim surprisingly lost on Sunday afternoon at relegated Ingolstadt. The surprise of the weekend, however, was Hansa Rostock, who won 3-0 at Holstein Kiel and thus recorded their first away win of the season. At the bottom of the table, meanwhile, things are getting tighter, especially after the successes of Paderborn and Magdeburg. Only Karlsruhe is still without a win.
Surprise in Kiel: Hansa Rostock celebrates 3-0 away win
Hansa Rostock finally celebrated their first away win of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Kogge outplayed Holstein Kiel 3-0 in front of 9,144 spectators and thus climbed to seventh place in the table. Simon Rhein (23rd), Haris Duljevic (40th) and Ridge Munsy (53rd) scored the goals for the Hanseatic League, who had previously been without a win in five away games this season. Kiel, on the other hand, fell to 11th place after their fourth defeat of the season.
Darmstadt and Hamburg only draw - Heidenheim loses in Ingolstadt
In the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening, leaders Darmstadt had to be content with a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Nürnberg. The Lilies fell behind early on through a goal from Manuel Wintzheimer (8th), but were able to equalize through Mathias Honsak (19th) before the break. 1. FC Heidenheim, who were second in the table before the weekend, surprisingly lost 2-1 at relegated FC Ingolstadt on Sunday afternoon. The Schanzer, who had previously only won one of their six home games this season, took the lead through Filip Bilbija (10th) and Tobias Schröck (29th). Heidenheim only managed to score the connecting goal through Jan-Niklas Beste (70th) late on.
Hamburg also draws against Hannover
Hamburger SV also failed to make up ground on Darmstadt and Heidenheim at the weekend. The Rothosen drew 1-1 at home to Hannover 96 on Saturday. HSV fell behind through Maximilian Beier (21st), but were able to equalize through Robert Glatzel (51st) in the second half. Hannover, however, remained the better team for long stretches of the game and would have deserved to win.
