Bologna ended AC Milan's five-match Serie A winning run as Riccardo Orsolini's first-half strike earned the hosts a 1-0 victory on Saturday.
Desperate draw
Milan, who had won their last five matches in all competitions, were desperate for a point to keep the pressure on Serie A leaders Napoli, who had drawn 1-1 at Empoli earlier on Saturday. Stefano Pioli's side had the better of the chances but failed to find a way past Lukasz Skorupski in the Bologna goal.
Orsolini shines
Bologna, who had lost their last two matches, took the lead in the 22nd minute when Orsolini fired home from the edge of the area after being played in by Musa Barrow. Milan had a chance to equalise just before the break but Olivier Giroud headed wide from close range.
Pioli brought on Divock Origi and Rafael Leao in the second half in an attempt to find an equaliser, but Bologna held on for a famous victory that lifted them to eighth in the Serie A table. Milan remain second, three points behind Napoli.
