Young Performance Brings Home Long, Drawn Out Win Over Hornets 125-120

Trae Young's 35-Point Triple-Double Leads Hawks to Victory

In a game that went down to the wire, the Atlanta Hawks narrowly defeated the Charlotte Hornets 125-120 on Monday night at State Farm Arena. Trae Young led the way for the Hawks with a 35-point triple-double, including 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Hawks got off to a hot start, leading by as many as 15 points in the first half. However, the Hornets fought back in the third quarter, cutting the lead to just three points heading into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the two teams traded baskets, but it was the Hawks who ultimately prevailed.

In addition to Young's performance, Dejounte Murray added 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks. John Collins also chipped in with 20 points and 10 rebounds. For the Hornets, LaMelo Ball led the way with 30 points, while Terry Rozier added 24 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 20 points.

Young's Triple-Double Performance

Young's triple-double was his second of the season and the eighth of his career. He is now just the second player in Hawks history to record multiple triple-doubles in a single season, joining Jason Terry.

Young's performance was especially impressive considering that he was playing on a minutes restriction after missing the previous two games with a quadriceps injury.

Hornets' Comeback Attempt Falls Short

The Hornets' comeback attempt fell short in the end, but they showed a lot of fight in the second half. Ball was especially impressive, scoring 20 of his 30 points in the second half.

The Hornets are now 10-12 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 11-11.
