U 23 Captain Kögel: "It was really cool"
Germany's U-23 women recently celebrated winning the European Championship for the eighth time. A major contributor to this success was captain Marina Hegering, who played the full 90 minutes of every game at the tournament and was named Player of the Match in the final.
In an interview, Kögel tells us about her tournament experience, her personal highlights and her goals for the future.
How was the European Championship for you personally?
It was a very special tournament for me. It was my first major tournament as captain and I was able to lead my team to the title. That was a great feeling.
What were your personal highlights of the tournament?
The final against Spain was definitely my personal highlight. It was a very close and exciting match and we were able to win in the end.That was a great feeling.
What goals do you have for the future?
I want to continue to develop as a player and as a leader. I want to help my team achieve even more successes and I want to play at the highest possible level.
