Flick made seven changes to the starting lineup compared to the last game under Löw at the European Championship. Among others, Joshua Kimmich, Ilkay Gündogan and Thomas Müller were back in the starting lineup.

The German team started the game well and had the first chances. In the 10th minute, Serge Gnabry had a good chance to open the scoring, but his shot went just wide.
