Singapore's Changi Airport Records 10 Percent Growth in Passenger Movements in Q3
Airport's Recovery Continues, Exceeding Pre-Pandemic Levels
Singapore's Changi Airport has reported a significant 10 percent increase in passenger movements during the third quarter (Q3) of 2023, continuing its strong recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth surpasses pre-pandemic levels, indicating a robust rebound in air travel.
In Q3 2023, Changi Airport handled approximately 13.2 million passenger movements, a substantial increase compared to the 12 million passengers recorded in the same period in 2022. This growth is attributed to the easing of travel restrictions and the resumption of international flights, particularly to key destinations in Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Europe.
Key Factors Driving Growth
- Resumption of international flights
- Increased travel demand for leisure and business
- Singapore's strong economic recovery
- Changi Airport's enhanced connectivity and services
Continued Growth Expected
Changi Airport is optimistic about its continued growth in the coming months, supported by the positive outlook for the aviation industry and Singapore's strategic position as a key regional hub. The airport's ongoing efforts to enhance its facilities and services, including the development of a new terminal, are expected to further strengthen its position as a leading international aviation gateway.
"We are encouraged by the strong rebound in passenger movements in Q3, which exceeded pre-pandemic levels," said Mr. Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport Group. "This growth is a testament to the resilience of the aviation industry and Singapore's attractiveness as a global air hub. We remain focused on providing a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for our passengers and look forward to continued growth in the future."
