Sevilla coach Pimienta welcomes Espanyol test: Barcelona taught us lesson
Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli believes his team will be ready for their upcoming match against Espanyol, despite their recent defeat to Barcelona.
The Andalusians were beaten 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Sunday, but Sampaoli insists that his players have learned from the experience and will be better prepared for their next outing.
“We have to learn from this game and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again,” Sampaoli said. “We know that Espanyol are a good team, but we are confident that we can get a win.”
Sevilla are currently fifth in the La Liga standings, while Espanyol are 13th. The two teams will meet at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday night.
Sampaoli is likely to make some changes to his team for the match against Espanyol. Midfielder Joan Jordan is suspended, while forward Youssef En-Nesyri is a doubt with a knock.
Espanyol are also likely to make some changes, with coach Vicente Moreno expected to rest some of his key players ahead of their Europa League match against Ferencvaros next week.
