MSV-Coach Hirsch Sees Missed Chance At 2:0
Duisburg's weakness in scoring goals continues: Third division club MSV Duisburg played 0-0 at home against VfB Oldenburg. Afterwards, MSV coach Torsten Hirsch expressed his dissatisfaction.
"We had enough chances to go 2-0 up and then the game would have taken a completely different direction," said Hirsch at the press conference after the game. However, his team was unable to take advantage of their chances, with numerous good opportunities to take the lead going begging.
MSV's problems in front of goal are nothing new: in the current season, the team has only managed to score nine goals in 13 games - the third worst record in the league. "We have to work on our finishing in training," demanded Hirsch. He also criticized his team's lack of consistency: "We had good phases in the game, but we also had phases where we invited the opponent to play."
Lucky point for Oldenburg
Oldenburg coach Dario Fossi, on the other hand, was satisfied with the draw: "We had a bit of luck today, but we also defended well and deserved the point." The VfB had come to Duisburg as underdogs and had focused on defending from the start. "We knew that we had to be compact and patient," said Fossi.
The draw means that MSV Duisburg remains in 15th place in the table, while VfB Oldenburg moves up to 13th place. Next Saturday, MSV will face fourth-placed VfL Osnabrück away from home.
