Duisburg Fought Hard But Settled For A Point

MSV Duisburg failed to close the gap on the promotion places in the 3.Liga after being held to a 1-1 draw by Viktoria Köln on Saturday.

Duisburg started the match brightly and took the lead through Alaa Bakir in the 18th minute.

But Köln hit back just before half-time through Simon Stehle, and neither side could find a winner in the second half.

The result leaves Duisburg in fifth place in the table, four points behind third-placed 1860 München.

Duisburg coach Torsten Ziegner was disappointed with the result.

"We played well in the first half and deserved to take the lead," he said.

"But we didn't play as well in the second half and allowed Köln to get back into the game."

Duisburg will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they host VfL Osnabrück next Saturday.
