SC Paderborn loses 2:3 against Karlsruher SC and slips into the relegation ranks

Paderborn - SC Paderborn has suffered another setback in the 2nd Bundesliga. The East Westphalians lost their home game against Karlsruher SC 2:3 (0:2) on Saturday afternoon and slipped to 16th place in the table. The promoted team is now only one point ahead of the relegation zone.

The hosts started the game well and had the first chance to score through Robert Leipertz (5th). However, the KSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck was able to parry the shot. After that, the guests from Baden became stronger and took the lead through Malik Batmaz (21st) and Fabian Schleusener (40th). Paderborn tried to turn the game around after the break. Marvin Pieringer (60th) scored the 1:2 and Dennis Srbeny (71st) equalized. In the end, however, all efforts were in vain. Marvin Wanitzek (87th) scored the winning goal for Karlsruhe in the final stages.

"We made too many mistakes today," Paderborn coach Lukas Kwasniok criticized his team after the game. "We conceded two goals from our own mistakes and then it was difficult to come back." Kwasniok also complained about the lack of efficiency of his team: "We had a lot of chances, but we didn't use them." KSC coach Christian Eichner, on the other hand, was satisfied with his team's performance: "We played a very good game today and deserved to win." Karlsruher SC is now in 7th place in the table, just one point behind the promotion places.
