Hydrogen Agrees to Develop Green Hydrogen Hub in Singapore
PowerSeraya, Singapore, and Pulau Seraya Power Station
Singapore-based energy company PowerSeraya has signed an agreement with Hydrogen to develop a green hydrogen hub at the Pulau Seraya Power Station. Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable energy, such as solar or wind power. Hydrogen has a key role in the world's fight against climate change. It can replace fossil fuels in a variety of industrial processes, including in power generation and transportation.
The hub will be Hydrogen's first in Southeast Asia, and it will be able to supply green hydrogen to various users in Singapore and the region. The project is expected to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will involve the construction of a 10-megawatt (MW) electrolyzer that will produce green hydrogen from renewable energy sources. Phase 2 will involve the construction of a larger-scale electrolyzer that will produce up to 100 MW of green hydrogen.
Power station construction and Gas turbine
The Pulau Seraya Power Station is a gas-fired power station located on Pulau Seraya, an island off the coast of Singapore. It is one of the most efficient power stations in Singapore, and it can generate up to 1,200 MW of electricity. The power station is currently undergoing a major upgrade, which includes the installation of new gas turbines. These new turbines will be more efficient than the existing ones, and they will help to reduce the power station's carbon emissions.
Hydrogen is a promising new fuel source that has the potential to help us reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. The development of a green hydrogen hub in Singapore is an important step towards making this goal a reality.
