Regensburg takes early lead, but FCN levels by 32nd minute
On Saturday afternoon, 1. FC Nürnberg won a wild matchday 11 duel against SSV Jahn Regensburg 7:3 (3:2) and moved up to fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga table. Erik Wekesser (13th minute), Andreas Albers (23rd), and Sarpreet Singh (32nd) initially gave the guests from the Upper Palatinate a 3-0 lead. However, Enrico Valentini (17th), Kwadwo Duah (27th), and Manuel Wintzheimer (43rd) equalized for the courageous Nuremberg team within just over half an hour. In the second half, goalscorer Wintzheimer prepared the lead for his team with a header (51st), and Felix Lohkemper (71st) increased the lead. In the 83rd minute, the recently substituted Tom Krauß put the final score at 7:3 with a shot through the legs of Regensburg goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.
Fast-paced start with early goals on both sides
The match started with a bang: After just 13 minutes, Wekesser put Regensburg in front. Just four minutes later, however, Valentini equalized for the home side. Albers and Duah then traded goals in the 23rd and 27th minutes, with Singh increasing the visitors' lead to 3:2 in the 32nd minute.
Nuremberg turns the game around before the break
In an entertaining match with chances on both sides, goalscorer Wintzheimer first equalized for Nuremberg in the 43rd, then prepared the 4:3 lead for his team with a header just eight minutes into the second half. Substitute Lohkemper increased the lead to 5:3 in the 71st minute, and Krauß, who had also just come on, made it 7:3 in the 83rd minute with a shot through the legs of Regensburg goalkeeper Urbig.
Nuremberg moves up to fourth place
With the 7:3 victory, FC Nürnberg moved up to fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga table with 19 points from eleven matches. Regensburg, on the other hand, remains in ninth place with 13 points.
