Euro 2025: These stars are promoting the Zurich location

Zurich is one of three Swiss cities that want to host the European Championship 2025. Numerous stars are now promoting the location.

The European Championship, which is scheduled to start in Munich on January 12, 2025, will be on Swiss soil in three years. Zurich, Bern and Geneva have submitted their candidacy for the major tournament and have now also received great support for their application.

Paris Saint-Germain and Swiss national team captain Xherdan Shaqiri, Bayer Leverkusen's rising goalkeeper Lennart Grill, Wolfsburg striker Admir Mehmedi and the two youngsters Ruben Vargas (FC Augsburg) and Djibril Sow (Eintracht Frankfurt) are part of the "Team Zurich" that wants to promote the Zurich candidature. These top footballers have been joined by five ZSC Lions players: Denis Malgin, Yannick Weber, Justin Sigrist, Andrighetto and Patrick Geering. "We have to do everything we can to ensure that the best national teams in Europe and the world come to Zurich in 2025," Shaqiri is quoted as saying in a media release from the association "Zuerich 2025".

The association also includes the largest football clubs in the region, including FCZ, Grasshoppers and FC Winterthur. "The fact that these Zurich players are supporting our application shows that we have convinced top athletes with our concept and vision," said FCZ President Ancillo Canepa. FCW President Andreas Mösli added: "We are all convinced that the European Championship 2025 in Zurich will be an unforgettable event for the city and the region.
