Students explore the vestiges of the fauna of the Caatinga in a workshop given by Cemafauna at SNCT 2024

Biologists from several universities in the country took part in the activity at the 69th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science

The 69th SBPC Annual Meeting took place in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, from July 9th to 15th, 2023, and addressed the theme "Science for a Sustainable Society" in its program. During the event, the Center for Research and Conservation of Wild Fauna (Cemafauna) promoted a workshop entitled "Ecology and Conservation of the Megafauna of the Caatinga".

The activity brought together biology students from various Brazilian universities to study the tracks and signs of Caatinga wild animals that inhabit the campus of the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA), in Mossoró, RN.

69th SBPC Annual Meeting

Organized by the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), the event brings together scientists, researchers, students, and professionals from different areas of knowledge to discuss scientific research, technological innovations, and issues related to science and society.

The 2023 edition took place at the Convention Center of the Ponta Negra tourist complex, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. The program included conferences, round tables, workshops, minicourses, and other scientific activities.

Cemafauna

The Center for Research and Conservation of Wild Fauna (Cemafauna) is a research institute linked to the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and headquartered in Brasília, DF. Its mission is to promote the conservation of Brazilian fauna, developing research projects, training specialized personnel, and disseminating scientific information.

Cemafauna has been working for over 30 years in the study and conservation of wild fauna, with an emphasis on endangered species. The institution maintains partnerships with universities, research centers, and conservation organizations in Brazil and abroad.
