Arkansas Razorbacks Upset No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks Behind Nick Smith Jr.'s 22 Points
Razorbacks Snap Jayhawks' Four-Game Winning Streak
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Razorbacks upset the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks 72-68 on Saturday night at Bud Walton Arena, snapping Kansas' four-game winning streak and dropping the Jayhawks to 2-2 in the SEC.
Nick Smith Jr. led the Razorbacks with 22 points, while Ricky Council IV and Anthony Black added 14 points each. Keyontae Johnson led Kansas with 21 points, while Jalen Wilson added 13 points and Gradey Dick had 12 points.
Arkansas improves to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the SEC
The Razorbacks, who made just 4 of 20 3-pointers, shot 50% from the field and outrebounded Kansas 37-32. The Jayhawks, who made 7 of 23 3-pointers, shot just 39.7% from the field.
The Razorbacks led by as many as nine points in the first half, but Kansas closed the gap to 34-33 at halftime.
Arkansas pushed its lead to 10 points early in the second half, but Kansas again rallied to within three points with less than five minutes remaining.
The Razorbacks made 7 of 8 free throws in the final 1:26 to seal the victory.
